Bed very comfortable and good views of Golden Gate. well located.
Kitchen was OK, but there was not almost any space for your food and even other guest took mine despite it was a stick with my name.
Bathroom cleanliness depends on the other guest, but someone cleans it al least twice a week.
This was my first ever booking with Wimdu. and the first time I'd stayed in a home environment while on holiday. I came to Berkeley when the area was experiencing some of the coldest weather it had had for some time. However, my room - though I'd say it was, ideally, a 3-season room: lots of windows giving on to a panoramic view of Marin and a distant Golden Gate bridge - was nevertheless provided with extra heating that did the job very well. The rest of the house had a warm-air system (which probably becomes air-conditioning in summer months). There was copious hot water from the showers that provide a Niagara flow which always comes as a shock to me in America after my trickle watering-can flow at home. Lovely wooden floors, a fine kitchen, a HUGE washer and dryer... and all kept very clean by people I did not see as I was out all the time. I was only asked to 'leave the place as I would wish to find it', which I happily did (I hope!). I met a couple of lovely people there, though I had to be out visiting with an ailing friend most of the time.
A minimum of formality and an atmosphere of multinational harmony prevails. Had I had more time I think I could have had a great holiday just sitting in the sunny garden and talking. But I did manage to explore further into the Berkeley Hills and found at the top of Cedar street great views over San Francisco and the Berkeley main campus just down Euclid to the right. Turn left and after a couple of hundred yards on the right you'll see 'Rose Walk', built by a one-time resident. A small walk, but really exquisite in design and miniature perfection. My short forays made me think that the Berkeley Hills might repay more time. I didn't even get near to finding out, though.
If I had one gripe it was probably that I could not easily find a place in the fridge for my iron rations. But I just elbowed my way in and things worked out. A lovely place to stay and, were I to come to Berkeley in future, I would look to Joyce's place first.
Had I gone to a motel - the probably alternative - I doubt I would be thinking now - still jet-lagged - that 2422 Cedar contributed as much to my enjoyment as did my visits to old friends, a trip to Muir Woods and beach, and to the Golden Gate bridge. Thank you, Joyce and Greg, very much. You deserve to prosper in all that you undertake.
We had a great time! Joyce and her son Greg were always very helpful and very kind. It is a lovely place. Especially the Cozy Room where you can see the Golden Gate Bridge. Just imagine: You wake up and see the Bridge. Amazing! Thanks a lot!
The view from my room was excellent! Very comfortable bed! I had privacy and yet enjoyed talking with other guests while in common areas. There's a great seating area in the back porch where we had a delicious lunch and California beer! Close to great restaurants, Berkeley campus and a market to buy groceries. What a wonderful stay!
