Prime location - Bairro Alto 1B
|Address||Travessa dos Inglesinhos, 1200 Lisbon, Portugal|
|Response time||A few hours|
This is a modern and cozy apartment, full of character and light, set on the first floor (Drto) of an ancient typical Lisbon building in the trendy and vibrant Bairro Alto, known as one of the most attractive and picturesque areas of the Lisbon’s city center. This apartment is part of a group of 7 apartments that we have in this building.
The apartment has one bedroom with a double bed, and a double sofa bed in the living room, a nice bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, ready to cook home made meals. Towels and linens at your disposal are included in the price and satelite Tv and wireless internet as well.
To set forth on a discovery of Lisbon, there is no better place to begin: the tram a few steps away, international brand shops at Chiado and the more daring fashions in Bairro Alto, where you also have the trendiest restaurants of Lisbon. Bica neighbourhood, close by, is becoming a night haven for artists and intellectuals. But this does not destroy the calm and charm of Rua das Chagas. For theatre and opera lovers there are three theatre houses at a five minute distance, S. Carlos, S. Luiz and Trindade Theatres.
Chiado is where Lisbon's history and urbanity meet. This tourist area of the capital begins at the Brasileira café, on Rua Garrett. Opened in 1905. It´s one of Lisbon's postcards. On the side walk café you will find the different urban tribes and a statue of poet Fernando Pessoa, who offers his lap for tourist photos.
Next to it, two churches remind the vanished towers of Santa Catarina Gate. The Church of Loreto, built in 1528 by Italians living in Lisbon, was partially destroyed by the 1755 earthquake, but later rebuilt and one of the places to visit on Chiado. The Church of Encarnação, inaugurated in 1708, was also hit in 1755 and rebuilt later. But Chiado has more than just two churches to see.
Luís de Camões square, which any Lisboner will call Largo Camões, is not just a passing place. Sit on the steps of the poet's monument and enjoy the bustle that Chiado has.
But do not leave Chiado without inquiring about the theatres. São Luiz Municipal Theatre was one of Lisbon's first cinemas. Today it is a municipal theatre with a rich and varied programming. Also glimpse the Teatro Trindade and the S. Carlos Opera House.
This is one of the city´s best shopping areas. You will find international brand shops (Hermès and Hugo Boss, for example) and great Portuguese designers like José António Tenente (Tv. Carmo, 8) StoryTailors (Cç. Do Ferragial, 8) or Atelier Alves/Gonçalves (Tv. Guilherme Cossul, 16).
It is not difficult to come across public figures, mainly artists. There are several art schools in the area, like the Fine Arts Faculty. Even if you are not an expert, venture into the Chiado Museum - National Museum of Contemporary Art (Rua Serpa Pinto, 4) besides well-cared exhibitions, it has a pleasant patio to have lunch or simply sip a coffee. There is also a big offer for meals: Café Royale, New Wok and Kaffee Hause are excellent choices.
Walk the streets with care, the movement on the sidewalks is always heavy and the trams are constantly passing.

This was a very good appartment and it was close to the centre. The bathroom and kitchen were nice and the bedrooms were good as well. If you're looking to go out a lot in Lisbon then this is the appartment to stay in. However, if you're not a very outgoing type then this is NOT a good appartment. You're very close to a lot of bars and the people in Lisbon party from Monday till Sunday. In short: a great place and the people who rented the appartment were very helpful as well!
I'd recommend this place to students or people who would like to have a good time in Lisbon. Barrio Alto is a beautiful place.
We just had four awesome days in Lisbon and Tiago's apartment. Located in beautiful Bairro Alto, we enjoyed the vivid nightlife, but also Lisbon itself because we always had only Short ways to go. We had a very friendly welcome and always felt safe. The apartment is well equipped, a little small maybe, but you are going to Lisbon to see the City and not your apartment ;) We would like to come back to Lisbon in the future and Tiago's apartment will be our first choice!
The apartment is newly renovated, modern furnished, equipped with kitchen utensils, towels, WiFi. Everything in the description and shown in the pictures. The old walls keep the room temperature cool, if it should be a cold because there were enough blankets. The contact with Tiago in advance of the trip was very friendly, as with Carla on the day of our arrival. Carla gave us very helpful tips and answered all our questions thoroughly. Only later we realized how important your information as metro ticket, shopping, etc. were. On the day of departure we had to leave the keys in the apartment and close the door. Bureaucratic handover of the apartment was spared us. The apartment is very centrally located in the lively Bairro Alto where you will meet a lot of students and tourists. This is a big advantage. The apartment is located on the ground floor, so you get all the noise of the street. In particular, on 24 April, in the evening before the day of freedom, celebration funny people of the city have celebrated deep into the night in Bairro Alto. If you do not want to celebrate so late Ohrenstöppsel are recommended. Overall we are very satisfied with the booking of the apartment and recommend this studio.
Good apartment !
The appartment is cosy and located in the old Graça district, where the charming old tram 28 takes you. We were given a warm welcome by our friendly and helpful hostess. There was clean linen for everyone and the beds were comfortable. We had a most enjoyable stay and will certainly come back here.
Studio very clean and perfectly matching the pictures. Only negative point: the noise on Friday and Saturday night because it is situated in the lively district of Lisbon (do not forget the earplugs!). Apartment very close to the city center. Well received by the host.
Location is great to achieve anything. Somewhat noisy, it is the output of the quarter (but only on Fridays, Saturdays, it was quiet). Internet was partly unless one was down on the street. There was full reception. The apartment is very clean, the owner very nice. Please note, the apartment is much smaller than on the pictures. The beds were super comfortable, good matraze. We can recommend the apartment. Thank you very much
Vielen dank
The appartment was really nice for the price that they offered. I would recommend to go in the summer as there is no heating. Nevertheless, the location is perfect and the appartment has everything you need. Perfect for a couple. The host was really nice and gave the best tips in Lisbon! I would definitetely go back in the summer!
The Organization Wimdu and their hosteses are fine, very friendly and everything as agreed. I have not only affected with my studio as for the huge noise of the drinking youth of Lisbon, there was not to sleep from 23: 30 until 4 am in the morning and then also the garbage truck came at 8 am all the mess clean up sleeping in the pity. A city to rturn often with a studio from Wimdu Brigitte
Nice apartment in great location in the city. The apartment is in a nice neighborhood with lots of restaurants, cafes and small boutiques, very charming and cozy! In the evening there are many people on the streets, so that you can hear it in the front room. The house is quite old and noisy. We heard the upstairs neighbors, but have not really 'suffer' from it. The apartment is situated on a hill, so you have quite a few stairs and steep roads on and off, but you can not avoid in Lisbon! Great starting angle for all the attractions in and around the city. The apartment was nicely furnished with two double bedrooms, a small bathroom, sitting room and a kitchenette. Facilities were fine, although there was now something with the drain, but there would be a handyman to look. The apartment is very cool, so that's probably good for the summer. Wifi did indeed good. Tip for travelers to Lisbon: buy a type of chip card ("Viva Viagem"), this can be bought from vending machines at metro stations. The card costs 50 cents and can be easily recharged in the machine and at various kiosks. This card can be used in metro, tram, bus and lifts (funiculars), it saves a lot of money and hassle!
